Elvera Elizabeth Amann (Vera), age 93, passed away on December 29, 2018 at Carmel Manor in Ft. Thomas. Vera’s passion in life was to be a good wife and mother and to donate her time to worthy causes that would make a difference in the Northern Kentucky community. In 1963, she became one of the first volunteers at St. Charles Care Center, where she continued to volunteer until 2008. She served in the Diocese of Covington for more than 40 years in many capacities, including her parish of Blessed Sacrament, the Seminary of St. Pius X Guild, and St. Elizabeth Hospital. Vera co-chaired the National Right to Life Convention in 1979 and was one of the first recipients of the “Faces of Pro-Life” award in 2010. Vera will always be remembered for all of the lives that she touched. She was preceded in death by Jim, her husband of 58 years, and her sisters, Dorothy Devenny, Ruth Duncan and Marilyn Ryle. Survivors include her sister, Edna Riehemann, her children, Tom Amann (Joy), Steve Amann, Connie Ehlen, Randy Amann and Cindy Boehmker. Vera was loved dearly by her 13 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. A memorial mass will be held of Saturday, January 19 at 10:00 AM at Blessed Sacrament Church, with a celebration to follow. Vera donated her body to the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine.
