Kathleen Hils (nee Barton) of Erlanger, KY, passed away peacefully at home with her family on Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2018, age 81. She is survived by her children Katie Hils (Greg Morris) of Oakwood, OH; Lori Hils of Mukilteo, WA; Mike Hils (Dawn) of Fort Thomas, KY; Jeff Hils (Roni Ann) of Taylorsville, KY; and Jennifer Petro (Donny) of Erlanger, KY; her 7 grandchildren Olivia Morris, Henry Morris, Maria Hils, Claudia Hils, Abraham Hils, Martin Hils, and Catherine Hils; a brother, John Barton (Betty) of Fort Wright, KY; sister-in-law Connie Barton of Murrieta, CA; sister-in-law Donna Barton of Independence, KY; brother-in-law Dave Hils (Betty) of Cincinnati; sister-in-law Joyce Blanchet (Robert) of Crestview Hills, KY; sister-in-law Marjean Hils of Crescent Springs, KY; and numerous nieces and nephews. Kathleen was preceded in death by her husband Martin “Mote” Hils, her brother Bob Barton, and her parents Wilbur and Nell Barton. Kathleen Ann Hils was born in Madison, IN, on Apr. 1, 1937. She grew up in Latonia, KY, and she lived most of her adult life in Erlanger, KY. Kathleen was strongly devoted to her family, her Catholic faith, and many social justice issues. Middendorf Funeral Home are handling the arrangements. Visitation will be Saturday, Sept. 8, at 8:30 a.m. at St. Peter in Chains Cathedral, 325 Eighth St. W., Cincinnati, OH, with a Memorial Mass to follow at St. Peter in Chains Cathedral at 10:00 a.m. Memorials suggested to the Kentucky Coalition to Abolish the Death Penalty (KCADP) P.O.
