Janet L Hils

September 12, 1929 — June 13, 2018

Janet Louise Darbro Hils, age 88, died peacefully at her home on Wednesday, June 13, 2018, with family by her side. She moved on to enjoy her next party with her husband Clement L. Hils, her parents Forest Whittier Darbro and Caroline Viola Rowland Darbro, her sister Betty Darbro Streb (Tom), and her brother Joseph Darbro. She was a proud and devout Catholic, a musician, an educator, and a lifelong learner. She never met a stranger and her time on earth was marked by verve and gusto. Her spirit, determination, candor, and delight in those she loved will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Surviving her are her brother Donald Darbro (Grace), her in-laws Dave Hils (Betty), Joyce Blanchett (Doc), Marjean Hils, and Kathy Hils. She loved her children Steve Hils (Christine Boehmer), Carrie Hanscom (Kurt), Gretchen Hils (Anna Alberici), and Andy Hils (Kim Clay). She won the lottery with her grandchildren Matthew (Megan), Laura (Peter), Caroline (Dan), Maddie, and Zach, and her great-grandchildren Leo, Simon, and Ezra. Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 16, 2018, starting at 9 am at St. Pius X Church in Edgewood, Kentucky. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:30. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
