Sharon Lea Gerdes

Sharon Lea McGuire Gerdes, age 53, of Ft. Wright, KY passed away peacefully on December 28, 2017 after a courageous fight against blood cancer. Her loving family and friends surrounded her through her journey.  Sharon’s mother Patsy McGuire and sister Melissa McGuire preceded her in death.  She is survived by her ever-caring husband George Gerdes and their son Andrew. Also surviving is her father Russell W. McGuire; sister Suzanne Langen (David); sisters-in-law, Heidi Graf (Russell), Sylvia Gerdes, and Erika Redder (Alfred); brothers-in-law, Ralph Gerdes (Leigh Ann) and Ronnie Gerdes (Yvette). Her nieces & nephews, Kayla, Austin, Johnny, Russell, Ellis, Audrey, Emily, Julia, Anna, Ava, Jackson, Matilda and Amelia love their “Tante Sherm” dearly.  Sharon truly enjoyed attending Andrew’s ball games and was a proud CCH Colonel mom. It is her hope that all blood cancer patients needing transplant have a donor match. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at Middendorf Funeral Home (3312 Madison Pike Ft. Wright, KY 41017) from 4 PM to 8 PM.  Mass of Christian Burial will take place the following day, Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at St. Agnes Church , 1680 Dixie Highway, Ft. Wright, KY 41011 beginning at 11:30 AM.  Interment will immediately follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Ft.
