James Leroy Steffen

James Leroy Steffen, age 77 of Taylor Mill, KY, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, May 15, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. Jim worked as a police officer for many years and later became a starter at Devou Park Golf Course. He really enjoyed playing golf and fishing, was an avid UK sports fan and loved watching his grandchildren play sports and other events. Jim was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Steffen and sister, Patricia Quay. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Sue Steffen (nee Maschinot); children, Cheryl Matthews (Jack), Richard Steffen (Kathy), Gary Steffen (Monica) and Dennis Steffen (Jean); siblings, Carol Jackson, Ima Ellis, Sylvia Brown, Joe Steffen, Tom Steffen and Mary Hardin; 19 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. A visitation will take place on Friday, May 26, 2017 at St. Mary of the Assumption Church (Alexandria, KY) from 10 AM until Mass of Christian Burial begins at 11 AM. Interment will follow at a later date. Memorial contributions are suggested to Hospice Care of St. Elizabeth 483 S Loop Rd, Edgewood, KY 41017 and/or a charity of the donor’s choice.
