Nelson John Cook, age 87, of Covington, passed away on Wednesday, January 11, 2017. Nelson was the loving husband of Shirley Cook (nee Jones) for over 59 years. Loving father of Carol Povkov (Steve), Kimberly Johnson (Steve), Terry Cook (Gayle), Connie Roeller (Ken) and Mark Cook (Kim). Beloved grandfather of 11 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. He also leaves behind his sister, Shirley Lucas; good friends, Rodger and Ann Bowling; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his son Gary Cook. Nelson worked for Newman Brothers in Cincinnati for over 47 years in metal fabrication. A visitation will take place on Monday, January 16, 2017 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Middendorf Funeral Home, 3312 Madison Pike, Ft. Wright, KY 41017. Service to follow at 1 p.m. Burial at Mother of God Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Kenton County Animal Shelter 1020 Mary Laidley Rd, Fort Mitchell, KY 41017.
