James Courtney Barnes Jr.

James Courtney Barnes Jr., age 70, of Crescent Springs, KY passed away on Wednesday, September 28, 2016. He was the loving son of the late James Courtney Barnes Sr. and Elyner Brennan Barnes.  He was the father of James C. Barnes III (Trina), Jason P. Barnes (Kim), Jennifer L. Ehrhardt (Jeff), and Moriah B. Barnes. He was the beloved grandfather of Hunter, Madison, Austin, Lexi, Collier, Ella, and Deston Barnes and Sydney and Avery Ehrhardt; and great grandfather of Kohen Hickman. He also leaves behind siblings Larry Barnes, Shelley Abdelghany, Brian Barnes, Heather Moser, Monica Krummen, and Jessica Koury; as well as a boatload of nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his sister, Susan Melton and brother, Guy Barnes. Courtney graduated from Saint X High School and then went on to graduate from Thomas More College with a bachelor’s degree in Accounting. He served in the United States Army Reserve while working as a successful banking and insurance executive.  He founded an independent insurance agency which he grew side by side with his son James C. Barnes III and nephew Johnny Barnes into a successful family business. He was very active with a number of life-long friends and frequently helped those in need get their lives back on track. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 4, 2016 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Community Family Church 11875 Taylor Mill Road, Independence, KY 41051.
