Alfred W. Mairose

Alfred W. Mairose, 87, of Fort Mitchell, KY passed away on Thursday, August 11, 2016. Al was the loving husband of the late Elizabeth (Liz) J. Mairose. He was “Dad” to eight children, Tom Mairose, Steve (Mary) Mairose, Mary Beth Mairose, Michelle (Dave) Kline, Mike (Bari), Mairose, Jerry Mairose, Terry (Sue) Mairose and Alan (Anne) Mairose; loving “Paw-Paw” to 13 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild; dear brother of Martha Jane Wolfe and Ruth Daily. Al served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He worked for several trucking companies, retiring from A C Leasing. He played minor league baseball, most notably for the Reds, Cubs, and Tigers, as well as for various semi-pro teams in the greater Cincinnati area. He was a member of the Northern Kentucky Sports Hall of Fame. Al was an avid horse-racing fan and a fixture at Turfway Park. He was a long-time member of Blessed Sacrament Church. He is preceded in death by his siblings Paul Mairose, Jim Mairose, Joe Mairose, John Mairose, Mary McKnight, and Rita Spaulding. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 16, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at MIDDENDORF FUNERAL HOME, 3312 MADISON PIKE, FT. WRIGHT, KY 41017. Mass of Christian Burial will immediately follow at Blessed Sacrament Church at 12 noon. Interment will follow at St. John Cemetery in Ft. Mitchell. Memorial contributions are suggested to Blessed Sacrament Church, 2409 Dixie Highway, Ft. Mitchell, KY 41017 and/or Cincinnati VA Medical Center, 3200 Vine Street, Cincinnati, OH 45520.
