Mary Elizabeth Griffith

Mary Elizabeth Griffith (Nee Cole) of Southgate, KY passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 5, 2016 surrounded by her family.  She was born in Altro, KY on May 4, 1939; the daughter of Alex and Mattie Cole.  She was the retired owner of the Country Inn Restaurant in Newport, KY and enjoyed traveling, gardening and cooking.  She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.  Mary was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Christine Kappelhoff and Thelma Turner; brothers, Charlie Cole, James Cole and Vernice Cole.  Mary is survived by her loving children, Kim (Omer Fowee) Swayne and Greg (Kim) Turner; sisters, Phyllis Deaton and Brenda (Alfred Douglas) Turner; grandchildren, Ryan (Amanda) Swayne, Aaron (Szeki) Swayne, Krystine Early, Alex Turner and Chloe Turner; great-grandchild, Emma Elizabeth Swayne; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.  Visitation will be held on Friday, July 8, 2016 from 5 PM-8 PM at Highland Avenue Baptist Tabernacle, 1080 Highland Avenue, Fort Thomas, KY 41075.  Funeral service will be held at the church the following day, Saturday, July 9, 2016 at 10 AM.  Interment will immediately follow at Evergreen Cemetery.  Memorial contributions are suggested to Highland Avenue Baptist Tabernacle and/or St. Elizabeth Hospice 483 S. Loop Dr. Edgewood, KY  41017.
