After blessing her family with her lovely presence for 93 years, Ruth Pauline Doty McCay jumped the high speed train to Heaven on Friday, May 20, 2016, to join her one true love, Thomas “Doc” McCay, who passed at the age of 95 in November 2013. Tom and Ruth were married for over 70 years; a modern miracle in this day and age. Ruth leaves behind her six loving children and their spouses/significant others: Sharon Bargo (Jerry), Bridget McCay (Kathleen), Amy Webster (Rusty), Terry McCay (Tina), Tim McCay and Jenny Helson (Tom). Ruth was also blessed with 15 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Ruth loved to paint, and was a master with knitting, crochet, and cross-stitch, showering family and friends with countless sweaters, afghans, scarves and mittens over the years. She poured her heart and soul into each of her creations and it showed. She loved her children dearly but was a strict disciplinarian, teaching them right from wrong and what’s important in life. Her love, devotion, courage, and discipline showed them the way, for which they will be eternally grateful. Ruth faithfully attended St. Agnes Parish for decades, and spent many years volunteering in the church office. She will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her. Ruth had a terrific sense of humor. Even as her health declined she never lost it. She loved music and dancing, appeared in several variety shows, and is dancing to big band music right now with Tom in Heaven. Ruth’s family appreciates the care she received at Madonna Manor in Villa Hills, KY, as she prepared to transition from this life to her eternal salvation. A visitation will be held at Middendorf Funeral Home in Ft. Wright, KY on Wednesday, May 25, 2016 from 6PM to 8PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Agnes Church at 11:30 AM the following day, Thursday, May 26, 2016. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to St. Agnes Church Benevolent Fund 1680 Dixie Hwy, Covington, KY 41011 and/or Madonna Manor 2344 Amsterdam Rd. Villa Hills, KY 41017. Online condolences can be left at www.middendorf-funeralhome.com. Gone but certainly never forgotten – we love you Ruthie!
