Francis B. “Frank” Schmerge, 87, of Fort Mitchell, passed away on Monday, May 16, 2016. Frank was the loving husband to Darlene (Hagedorn) Schmerge for 57 years. He was the loving father of Michelle Siemer (Wayne) of Edgewood, Julianne Merten (Gary) of Park Hills, and Michael Schmerge (Katherine) of Tarpon Springs, FL. Beloved grandfather of 11 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He also leaves behind his brother, Robert Schmerge (Carolyn). He is preceded in death by his sister, Marie Smith and his brother, Arthur Schmerge. Frank served the country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He also worked for Western Electric and then Western Southern Life Insurance Company. Frank was very devoted to his family starting at a young age and he shared that principle of living throughout his life. He always put others before himself, cherishing his faith, friends, and family. A visitation will be held on Monday, May 23, 2016 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Saint Agnes Church. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:30 a.m. Burial to follow at St. John Cemetery. Middendorf Funeral Home, Ft. Wright is assisting the family with arrangements.
