L Richard “Dick” Schieman, age 83, of Ft. Mitchell passed away on May 4th 2016, at Rosedale Green. Dick has been a resident of Ft. Mitchell and a member of St. Agnes parish for over 50 years. Dick was originally from Louisville, Kentucky and a 1951 graduate of St. Xavier High School. He was the son of Leo and Margaret Schieman of St. Matthews. He graduated from Xavier University with a BS in Economics in 1955 and spent 10 years in the US Army Reserves advancing to the rank of Captain. Dick’s business career began while at Xavier when participating in a co-op job with an established Zenith TV, Kitchen Aid and Norge appliance distributor – Knodel-Tygrett. He held many positions and after 20 years he became President and Chairman. Dick founded his own company in 1977 with a new opportunity. OKI Distributing was created to distribute Amana appliances and Hitachi electronics in Ohio, Northern Kentucky and Eastern Indiana regions. It was a very successful company for many years. Dick retired as an owner at Hughes-Peters Distributors. Dick was an avid sports fan especially the Cincinnati Reds and Cincinnati Bengals. He was involved in many advertising promotions with his companies over the years including some at Crosley Field and Riverfront Stadium. He coached little league baseball and frequently attended his grandchildren’s sports games and activities. Dick loved to travel and enjoyed many cruises over the years. Dick had a very philanthropic spirit. He served on the original Board of Directors of Be Concerned in Covington, Kentucky. At St. Agnes Catholic Church, he was a charter member of Christian Social Concerns committee, served on Parish Council and served as a Eucharistic Minister. Dick is survived by his loving children Vicki Schieman Clarke (Redge) of Lexington, Lori Schieman Mosser (Terry) of Richmond KY, Danny R. Schieman (Judy) of Edgewood, and Angie Schieman Johnson (Bob) of Edgewood. Grandchildren Ben, Eric, Abby Schieman, Justin Clarke, Cole Johnson, and Ryan Mosser. His Sister, Mary Jane Brownfield of Indianapolis IN, Sister-in-laws – Joyce K Brown of Louisville and Linda O’Daniels of Nicholasville KY and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife and high school sweetheart Bettie of 57 years who passed in 2011, his daughter Tina Schieman and his brother-in-law, Ronald Brown of Louisville. Visitation Monday, May 9, 2016 from 4:00 - 7:00 PM at Saint Agnes Church with a Mass of Christian Burial following at 7:00 PM at Saint Agnes Church, in Ft. Wright. Burial will be at St. John Cemetery in Ft. Mitchell on Tuesday at 10:00 AM.
