James F. Koester, 72, of Covington, Kentucky, passed away peacefully after a long illness on Sunday, December 27, 2015. Jim was born in Mt. Washington, Ohio on October 27, 1943, the only child of Frank and Jane Koester. Jim retired in 2009 from Sweco International after working for 15 years as a distribution coordinator. His passions included gardening, caring for his own pets as well as any others that crossed his path. He was a gentle hell raiser, correcting wrongs as he went along in life. James will be remembered as a kind and loving man. He was a friend to many and will be dearly missed. He is survived by Sally Leisz Koester, his wife of more than 40 years. He also leaves behind his daughter, Kristin Koester; his sons Michael Smith (Gayle) and Jimmy Smith; and several grandchildren. Friends may gather at the Mother of God Cemetery Chapel Mausoleum, 3125 Madison Avenue, Ft. Wright, Kentucky 41015, beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 2, 2015. Burial will take place at 11:00 a.m. Middendorf Funeral Home, Ft. Wright, is assisting the family.
