Sister Mary Colleen was born on August 26, 1931, in Covington, Kentucky. Her parents Thomas and Mary Sullivan Dillon, raised six children, four boys and two girls; Maureen was the third oldest. She attended St. Paul and St. Henry Elementary Schools. While attending Notre Dame Academy, Covington she became inspired by the Sisters of Notre Dame. At the age of 18 she joined the Sisters of Notre Dame and made her profession of vows on August 16, 1952. Sister Mary Colleen began her ministry in Cincinnati, Ohio teaching fifth through eighth grades in several elementary schools. Sister then served as an instructor at Notre Dame Academy, Covington. After completing her degree at Thomas More College, Sister Mary Colleen attended Fordham University and Cornell University and obtained her Ph. D. in Linguistics. She was on the faculty at Thomas More College from 1961-2011. After her retirement from Thomas More College, Sister was often called upon to assist with editing manuscripts and tutoring. She then continued her ministry at St. Joseph Heights as Local Coordinator and later in the Apostolate of Prayer. Sister is preceded in death by her parents and her brother Thomas. Sister leaves behind her sister Margaret Ann “Peg” and her brothers John, SJ, Joseph, and Lawrence. Sister also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. Visitation will begin at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 3, 2015 at the Provincial Center, followed by the Wake Service at 5:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 7:00 p.m. in the convent chapel. Interment will follow 8:30 a.m. Mass on Friday morning in the convent cemetery. Memorials are requested to the Sisters of Notre Dame, Covington, KY.
