Sr. Mary Kathelyn Fritz

Sister Mary Kathelyn was born on December 20, 1924, in Covington, Kentucky. Her parents Stephen and Anna Hanneken Fritz, raised 11 children, 5 boys and 6 girls; Dolores was the second oldest. She attended St. John Elementary School, Covington. Here she became inspired by the Sisters of Notre Dame. At the age of 21 she joined the Sisters of Notre Dame and made her profession of vows on August 11, 1948. Sister Mary Kathelyn assisted in the Kindergaten Class at St. Joseph Orphanage in the beginning of her ministry; shortly after she became head of Housekeeping for the Provincial House. Sister continued her ministry later at St. Charles Nursing Home helping with Laundry and Housekeeping. From 1986 to 1992 Sister supervised the Notre Dame Academy Student Co-op program. Sister continued her ministry in the SND Apostolate of Prayer. Sister is preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Joseph and Leonard, and her sisters, Julianna, Sr. Mary Ann Adele, SND, Sr. Mary Stefanie, SND and Mary Jo. Sister leaves behind her brothers, Louis, Stephen and Lawrence and her sister Cyrilla. Sister also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. Visitation begins at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday November 12, 2015 at the Provincial Center, followed by the Wake Service at 5:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 7:00 p.m. in the convent chapel. Interment will follow Mass on Friday morning, November 13, in the convent cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Sisters of Notre Dame, 1601 Dixie Highway, Covington, Kentucky 41011.
