John C. Holmes, M.D., age 87, passed away on Saturday, October 17, 2015. John graduated from Bellevue High School in 1946. He then went on to the University of Cincinnati and received his under graduate in 1950. From there, he attended medical school and graduated from the University Of Cincinnati College of Medicine in 1956. John served his internship at Saint Mary Hospital in Cincinnati between 1956 and 1957. After completing his internship, he served his residence at Cincinnati General Hospital from 1957 to 1959 and began his fellowship in Cardiology at Cincinnati General Hospital from 1959 to 1962. He was the Associate Professor of Medicine at Cincinnati General Hospital till 1980. He would work there during the day and then see patients in Northern Kentucky in the evening. In 1980, he opened Cardiology Associates in Northern Kentucky and started the 1st Cardiac Cath lab in Northern Kentucky. He's had a long prestigious career as an invasive cardiologist, implanting pacemakers, defibrillators, and BiV devices. He has a record of the most implants of Medtronic devices. John is preceded in death by his wife Judy Holmes. He leaves behind his daughters Donna Pieper (Dan) and Vanessa Holmes (Jeff Lay). He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren Aaron (Jill), Marty, Emma, and Lily and great grandchildren Olivia and Piper. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 21, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at MIDDENDORF FUNERAL HOME, 3312 MADISON PIKE, FT. WRIGHT, KY 41017. Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Thursday, October 22, 2015 at 10:00 am at Blessed Sacrament Church, 2409 Dixie Highway, Ft. Mitchell, KY 41017.Entombment to follow at Highland Cemetery, in Ft. Mitchell. Immediately following Mass, people are welcome to join the family for a reception at the Fort Mitchell Country Club.
