Deacon Marvin Holstein, 81, of Erlanger, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 5, 2015, at his home. Marvin is survived by Virginia "Ginger" Ann Reilly Holstein, his loving wife of 58 years. He is also survived by his children: David W. Holstein (Debbie), Tony F. Holstein (Sharon), Ken A. Holstein, Paul M. Holstein, and Ann M. Boyer (David). He will be greatly missed by his sister and brothers: Lavada Adams, Milton "Bill" Holstein, and Raymond Holstein. He was the proud grandfather of 14 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. He first served his country in the United States Army, and then after a successful career of 37 years with Walgreens he retired from the company. He was ordained to the Deaconate on November 11, 1992, and assigned to St. Joseph Church, Crescent Springs, and later to St. Barbara Church, Erlanger. Deacon Holstein was truly a gentle man who enjoyed a life of service to God's Church; whether as a Chaplain at St. Elizabeth Hospital for 18 years, a Big Brother, a volunteer at the Diocesan Catholic Children's Home, bringing the Eucharist to the sick, or preaching the Gospel, it was done with great humility, love, and compassion. A visitation will take place on Wednesday, August 12, 2015, at St. Barbara Church, Erlanger, beginning at 3:00 p.m. until the eulogy at 6:50 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 7:00 p.m. Burial will take place at St. Mary Cemetery, Ft. Mitchell at 10:00 a.m. , Thursday, August 13, 2015.
