Donald Earl Botts, age 87, of Covington, was welcomed into God's loving presence on Saturday, July 25, 2015, with his family at his side. He was the loving husband of over 67 years to Clara Bennett Botts; Beloved father of four daughters: Sandy Sorg (Tom), Vickie Moffitt (Mike), Donna Johnson (Green), and Kim Botts. Don was the proud grandfather of 8 grandchildren and 3 great- grandchildren. He served his country in the United States Army between 1946 and 1948. Don was an electrician and spent his career at Cincinnati Gas & Electric. He was an avid bowler, golfer, and all around sportsman with a great passion for baseball. He was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals as a pitcher, but later decided he would rather stay home and be with his wife, Clara. He was a pitcher for the Motor Pool Cowboys and also played in the American League of Japan baseball teams. He was also a member of the Northern Kentucky Sports Hall of Fame. Don was a member of the Knights of Columbus Kehoe Council, Ludlow, where he was a past grand Knight. He was also a parishioner of St. Augustine Church and a Kentucky Colonel. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 28, 2015 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at MIDDENDORF FUNERAL HOME, 3312 MADISON PIKE, FT. WRIGHT, KY 41017.
