James "Red" Koenig

James "Red" Koenig, age 85, of Florence, passed away on June 16, 2015. He was the beloved husband of Mary Joan Hartman Koenig for over 60 years. Father of Teresa (Steve) Goeke and Tom (Sharon) Koenig. Grandfather of Jason (Kim), Scott, and David Koenig, and Brian, Kevin (Tracy), and Brad Goeke and one great grandchild, Zachary Goeke. He is also survived by his brother Bob Koenig; sister Dolores (Dick) Heitzman, and sister-in-law, Flora Koenig. James is preceded in death by his brother Paul Koenig and his sister, Jean Zimmerman. James served in the United States Army as a MP in Germany, during the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion and Saint Paul Church. James was an avid woodworker, who also enjoyed golf, fishing, and most of all his grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Monday, June 22, 2015 from 4 to 7 pm at MIDDENDORF FUNERAL HOME, FT. WRIGHT, KY 41017. Mass of Christian Burial Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at 12:10 pm at Saint Paul Church, 7301 Dixie Highway, Florence, KY 41042. Burial to follow at Mother of God Cemetery.
