Margot Fortier Aicklen, 87, of Crescent Springs, Kentucky passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 10, 2015. She is survived by her husband, Captain William Joseph Aicklen, Jr. USN Retired; her sister, Solidelle Fortier Wasser, New York, NY.; four sons, William Fortier Aicklen, Atlanta, GA., his wife, Helen Moraitakis Aicklen; Robert Stephen Aicklen, Dallas, TX., his wife, Patricia Peterson Aicklen; Andrew John Aicklen, Oakville, Ontario., his wife, Paula Oprica Aicklen; Donald Neil Aicklen, Hyde Park, OH., his wife, Karen Harvener Aicklen; and her daughter, Frances Aicklen Akin, Edgewood, KY., her husband, Mark Paris Akin. She was the extremely proud grandmother of fifteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren whom she loved dearly. Margot was born in Fort Sill, Oklahoma and was the daughter of Brigadier General Louis Fortier and Solidelle Fortier. As a young girl she moved to Paris with her family while General Fortier attended L'Ecole de Guerre. When WWII broke out in Europe her father served as military attaché to Yugoslavia and Greece. She was evacuated in May of 1940 and was separated from her parents for more than a year. Margot met her husband, Bill, a handsome Navy Ensign, at a dance in Virginia Beach. Margot and Bill just celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary on June 6, 2015. She served her country as a proud "military brat" and supportive wife through long months of separation from her husband; raising five children with grace and love. Margot enjoyed cooking, bridge with friends and knitting. She instilled in her children and grandchildren a love of opera, reading, and classical music. She was deeply religious and loved her Catholic faith. Visitation will take place on Monday, June 15, 2015 from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Middendorf Funeral Home, 3312 Madison Pike, Ft. Wright, Kentucky 41017. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 16, 2015, at St. Joseph Church, Crescent Springs. Burial will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery, Cincinnati, Ohio.
