Mary Agnes McDermott

Mary Agnes Hirschauer McDermott, 92, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 14, 2015. "Nurse Mac" worked as a nurse for 44 years, 37 of those years was spent working third shift at St. Elizabeth North Emergency Department; she was the oldest of the nurse retirees and met with them monthly. Mary was very active at St. Mary Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption Parish; there she was a member of the bereavement committee and a greeter. She was also a member of the Order of the Hibernians, loved to work crossword puzzles and enjoyed gardening. Mary is preceded in death by her husband, Albert McDermott; her daughter, Patricia McDermott, and her daughter-in-law, Pat McDermott. She is survived by her children: Timothy McDermott, Greg (Betty) McDermott, Mayrene Hicks, Dennis (Patty) McDermott, Jeff (Joy) McDermott, Doug McDermott, Karen McDermott, David (Harriet) McDermott, Denise (Bob) Higgins, and Jennifer (Jim) Haire. She is also survived by 24 Grandchildren and 28 Great Grandchildren. Visitation will take place on Monday, May 18, 2015 at St. Mary Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption, 1130 Madison Avenue, Covington, Kentucky 41011, from 10:00 a.m. until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. A private burial will follow at Mother of God Cemetery, Ft.
