William (Bill) Patton , 93, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 3, 2015 in Bettendorf, Iowa. Bill was born on July 11, 1921 in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, the son of William and Rachel Patton. The family later moved to Clarkston, Washington where Bill grew up. He graduated from Clarkston High School in 1939 and went on to obtain a degree in mechanical engineering from Washington State University in 1943. During World War II, Bill served his country as a member of the 983rd Engineer Battalion and was honorably discharged in 1946. Bill married Mary Clark Lowry in Cincinnati, Ohio on September 3, 1954. She preceded him in death in 2012. Bill was employed as a mechanical engineer at Procter & Gamble , retiring in 1983. Bill is survived by one son, Jerry (Kathy)Lowry of Bettendorf, Iowa; grandchildren Michael (Julia) Lowry , Erin (Derek) Doyle , and David Lowry; great-grandsons George and Owen Lowry and Sage Doyle. He is also survived by one brother, Robert (Bruce) Patton, and two sisters, Patricia Patton and Betty Winn. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 11, 2015 from 10-11am at Middendorf Funeral Home, 3312 Madison Pike, Ft. Wright, KY with services to follow at 11 am.
