John C. "J.C." Benton, Jr., 81, of Walton passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Saturday, May 31, 2014. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 48 years, Rosemary Benton (nee Doll). J.C. was the owner of Benton Family Farm; he farmed his land for more than 70 years. He impacted numerous families and children by sharing his lifelong passion for farming. He was a loving father to his daughter and caregiver Mary Rose Marcum (Tony), as they worked side by side until the end; He is also survived by his sons John Benton (Jenny), and Mike Benton (Paula). He also leaves behind his dear sisters, Louise Bonar and Hazel Spegal. He is survived by his 8 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was known as "Papa" to generations of children, employees, and volunteers who worked and visited his family farm. In an effort to continue to teach future generations, he established a non-profit organization to carry on his life's work. He was a volunteer for the Boone County 4-H Council for 33 years, later named an emeritus member. He took great comfort in his love for the Catholic Faith. Visitation will take place from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 4, 2014, at Middendorf Funeral Home, 3312 Madison Pike, Ft. Wright, KY 41017. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m., on Thursday, June 5, 2014 at St. Timothy Church, 10272 US 42, Union, KY 41091. Burial will immediately follow at St. Mary Cemetery, Ft. Mitchell, KY.
