George A. Hammond

George A. Hammond, 66, of Verona, KY passed away on Sunday, April 13, 2014 at Christ Hospital in Cincinnati, OH. He was a self-made man and accomplished so much in his lifetime. He had established two successful businesses. Generation after generation would bring their cars to him, because he was so trust worthy. He was runner up in N. KY Chamber's Small business awards, and was introduced into the N. KY Sports Hall of Fame for softball and bowling a 300. But what he loved the most and was most proud of was his family. His friends were lifelong and endless. His friend, Lenny Collins, put it best when he said "There was never a bad time when you were with George Hammond." His other loves were his farm, his cows, gardening, fishing, fireworks, the holidays, and his amazing Christmas displays. His religion was a very important part of his life too. George is survived by his loving wife of 30 years Connie Hammond, loving children; Alissa Light (Mitchell), and Stephanie Schutz (Jeff), brother Charlie Hammond, and 3 beloved grandchildren, and many Nieces and Nephews. A Visitation will be held on Monday, April 21, 2014 from 4:00pm until 8:00pm at Middendorf Funeral Home in Ft. Wright, KY. Mass of Christian will be held on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at 10:00am at Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption in Covington, KY. The Burial will take place following the Mass at Mother of God Cemetery in Covington, KY. The family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America at 4015 Executive Park Drive, Cincinnati, OH 45241, or to the Gateway Community and Technical College c/o The George Hammond Automotive Scholarship Fund at 500 Technology Way, Florence, KY 41042.
