Sister Mary Sienna SND was born on March 25, 1915 in Cincinnati, Ohio. She was the oldest of the four children of John and Estella Engelbrink and the only daughter. Sister was taught by the Sisters of Notre Dame at St. Martin School in Cheviot, Ohio. She made her profession of vows on August 13, 1935 and was professed for 78 years. For many years Sister Mary Sienna taught in elementary schools in the Archdiocese of Cincinnati and the Diocese of Covington. She received a Masters of Fine Arts degree from the Catholic University of America. She was art instructor in elementary schools and for several years taught in the art department at Villa Madonna/Thomas More College. Sister is the author of an art text book for elementary school teachers. Sister is preceded in death by her parents, and her brothers: Urban, John, and Thomas. Sister leaves behind her sister-in-law, Marion Engelbrink, several nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. Visitation begins at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 23, 2014 at the Provincial House, St. Joseph Heights, followed by a Wake Service at 5:00 p.m. and Mass of Christian Burial at 7:00 p.m. in the convent chapel. Interment will be Friday morning, January 24th in the convent cemetery at 9:30 a.m. Memorials are requested to the Sisters of Notre Dame, Covington, KY.
