Robert T. Kreke, age 84, of Verona, passed away on August 1, 2013 with his loving wife Laverne M. Kreke nee Hanneken age 83, who passed away on August 3, 2013, with their family by their side. After serving in the Army Corp of Engineers in Korea, Robert married his true love, Laverne, and was happily married for 59 years. Robert was a custom home builder and founded Kreke Development Corporation. He built many homes in Northern Kentucky and developed Twelve Trees subdivision in Edgewood. Robert also loved farming and owned and operated Liberty Hall Farm in Owenton, KY. As an artist, Robert published several poems and a book entitled Chasing Shadows while also enjoying sculpting and sketching. Laverne spent her teens working with her family at Hanneken Dairy in Covington where she met Robert. As a wife, she brought years of happiness to her husband. As a mother, Laverne brought love to her family. As a friend, she brought joy and warmth. Laverne was an avid painter and she brought beauty to her home and to those with whom she shared her gift. They are survived by their children: Ken Kreke(Cathy), Dan Kreke(Marci), Joan Lindsey(Kirby), Linda Higgins(Joe), Carolyn White, and Margie Witt(Michael). Loving grandparents to 17 grandchildren. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Laverne leaves behind a sister, Jean Deye. They are preceded in death by their daughter Mary Lynne. Robert is preceded in death by his sisters Betty Franz, Anna and brothers Cornelius and Leonard. Laverne is preceded in death by her brothers Elmer, Chuck, Tom, Joe, and sister Mary Lemker. Visitation Thursday August 8, 2013 from 4 - 7 pm at Saint Agnes Church, in Fort Wright. Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 7 pm. Burial at Mother of God Cemetery.
