Dorothy Thompson

E. "Dorothy" Thompson, 92, of Erlanger, KY passed away Thursday, September 20, 2012. Known as "Granny", "Miss Dottie", or "Dot" was born in Sloans Valley, KY on November 17, 1919. She is reunited with her family in heaven including her husband John Thompson; parents Dora and Edgar Hughes; her sister Georgia Kern; brothers, Vola and Bill Hughes; daughters Penny Hungler and Dianna Bergelt; and son in law Howard Adams. She was formerly from Pleasant Street in Covington, KY, and she was a clerk at Wentworth Grocery in Covington. She loved her family and friends, which she had many. If you knew her, you would remember her "down home" storytelling humor, unique country flair, and loving, genuine personality. Dorothy went home to her Lord at the Hospice Center in Edgewood, KY. She will be missed by all that knew and loved her, and will always be "Our treasure, forever in our hearts." She is survived by her daughters Vicki Adams of Erlanger, KY; Pamela Shipe of Newport, KY; Donna Thompson of Newport, KY; son in laws Jim Hungler of Erlanger, KY; and Doug Bergelt of Covington, KY; her niece Janet Beagle of Florence, KY; Nephews Paul Hughes (Barbara) of Somerset, KY; Gene Hughes (Lisa) of Walton, KY and their families; grandchildren include Melissa Hungler Brock (Tim) of Erlanger, KY; Amy Hungler Brooks (Ronnie) of Erlanger, KY; Holly Thompson (David Ragland) of Crittenden, KY; John Shipe (Tasha) of Taylor Mill, KY; Jeff Hungler (Kristine) of Erlanger, KY; Chrissy Hodapp (Bill) of Walton, KY; Kiley Bergelt of Covington, KY; Natalie Thompson of Ludlow, KY; Bobby Shipe (Caroline) of Covington, KY; Matthew Bergelt (Rachel) of Burlington, KY; and Derek Scott of Taylor Mill, KY; she also had 27 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, and close friends Arlene Brinkman and Julie Gholson. A visitation will be held on Tuesday September 25, 2012 from 5pm until 8pm at Middendorf Funeral Home in Fort Wright, KY. The Service will be held on Wednesday, September 26, 2012 at 1pm at Middendorf Funeral Home.
