Mary Lee Aldemeyer

June 3, 1917 — July 14, 2012

Mary Lee Aldemeyer (nee Stegman) beloved wife of 65 years of the late Alvin Aldemeyer. Beloved mother of Barrett Aldemeyer and the late David Aldemeyer. Cherished grandmother of Nicholas Aldemeyer, Emily Smith, Sarah Aldemeyer, and Michael Aldemeyer. Beloved great grandmother of Zachary and Mason Smith and Benjamin Aldemeyer. Mary Lee was one of twelve children of Carl and Leona Stegman. She is preceded in death by her parents, her sisters - Loraine Owens, Agnes Farrell, and Marlane Moher, and her brothers -- Father Robert Stegman, S.J., and Carl, Howard, Paul, and Herbert Stegman. She is survived by her brothers -- Joseph, James, and Jerome Stegman and many loving nieces and nephews and other relatives. Mary Lee dedicated more than 60 years to volunteering and helping others. As an active member of Blessed Sacrament Parish, she was a lector, a member of Church Women's United, and for years served as coordinator of the Bereavement Committee, handling arrangements and providing support for the families of deceased parishioners. She worked as a volunteer in many other capacities: in the school library, as a member of the Christian Service Committee, at the Diocesan Children's Home, and as a tutor at Good Counsel School. Mary Lee coordinated retreats and served in various capacities with the Seminary Guild. She served as President of the Women's Guild at Thomas More College and as President of the Notre Dame Academy Alumnae Association. She wanted us to remember her with this quotation from Julian of Norwich: "The greatest honor you can give to Almighty God is to live gladly, joyfully, because of the knowledge of His love." The family wish to extend their sincere thanks to the staffs at Madeira Health Care Center and Hospice of Southwestern Ohio and to her caregivers, Opal Smith and Christine Taylor, for their many kind services to our mother and grandmother. Visitation Wednesday from 5-8 pm at MIDDENDORF FUNERAL HOME, FT. WRIGHT. Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday 10 am at Blessed Sacrament Church. Entombment at St. Mary Cemetery. Online condolences may be sent to: middendorf-funeralhome.com In lieu of flowers, gifts in memory of Mary Lee may be sent to the Jesuit International Missions, 2050 North Clark Street, Chicago, IL 60614.06
