George T. Jr., 79, Fort Wright, died June 27, 2012, at Rosedale Manor. He was a longtime sports writer for the Louisville Times and Louisville Courier-Journal, having covered the Bengals, Reds, University of Louisville, University of Kentucky and Louisville's AAA baseball teams, among many other teams and sports during his career. He was sports editor of the Huntington (WV) Herald-Dispatch in the 1960s. Earlier, he worked for the Raleigh Herald in Beckley, WV, his home town. Mr. Rorrer earned B.A.and M.A. degrees from Marshall University, and he maintained close ties with the school. In 1993, Mr. Rorrer was inducted into the Marshall University School of Journalism Hall of Fame. He taught journalism at Marshall in the 1960s and at Northern Kentucky University after his retirement from the Courier-Journal in 1995. Mr. Rorrer was a proud Marine, retiring from the Reserves as a lieutenant colonel. When his sons were young, he coached their Little League and American Legion baseball teams. Survivors: wife Ann Haas Rorrer of Fort Wright; children Vanessa (Andy) Iredale of Louisville; George T Rorrer III (Debbie) of Clarksville, IN; Randy (Sharon) Rorrer of Daytona Beach, FL.; Jeff Rorrer (Julie) of Sellersburg, IN; Valerie (David) Lavigne of Snohomish, WA; step-daughters Jennifer (Rolly) Hoyt of Hot Springs, AR, Beth Haas of Charleston, SC; former wife Betty Rorrer of Jeffersonville, IN; sister Janet Thornquist of Natick, MA; 13 grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, six great-grandchildren. Visitation 9:30-11:30 a.m. Monday, July 2, with Mass of Christian Burial to follow at St. Agnes Church, Fort Wright. Burial in St. Mary Cemetery, Fort Mitchell. MIDDENDORF FUNERAL HOME, Ft.
