Sister Mary Emmanuel was born on January 16, 1914 in Covington, Kentucky. After attending Notre Dame Academy, she entered the Sisters of Notre Dame and professed her vows on August 13, 1935. Sister was a teacher in Junior High grades for 16 years in Ohio and Kentucky schools. For many of these years she was also the principal. Sister became a librarian in 1954, serving for 25 years at Notre Dame Academy in Covington, and for 18 years at Carroll High School in Dayton Ohio. Sister Mary Emmanuel was an educator whether in the classroom or the library, and she loved both positions. Sister Mary Emmanuel was the youngest of seven children, all of whom preceded her in death. She is survived by several nieces. Visitation begins at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 15, at the Provincial House, St. Joseph Heights, followed by a Wake Service at 5:00 p.m. and Mass of Christian Burial at 7:00 p.m. in the convent chapel. Interment will be Wednesday morning in the convent cemetery at 9:30 a.m. Memorials are requested to the Sisters of Notre Dame, Covington, KY.
