James Wilson Cliff, Sr. age 74, Born Nov. 9, 1937 and passed away April 11, 2012 at his home after a long battle with throat cancer. He retired after 37 years as a structural ironworker for Local #44. Jim's whole life revolved around his love for his work, all sports, his family and all his great friends that he loved. He graduated from Campbell County High School in Alexandria, KY in 1957 where he played football, basketball, baseball and track. He won many awards and was named "Athlete of the year" his senior year. He was involved later in life in softball where he played and managed different teams in Northern Kentucky, where they won many championships over 20 years. Jim was honored by his induction into the Northern Kentucky Hall of Fame. He was a Kentucky Colonel, a member of the Moose Lodge, and the Sunday Morning League where they preformed charity work helping others. Jim is survived by his wife Dolores (Haney) Cliff of Edgewood, KY. Son Jamie Cliff, Daughter Jodi Cliff, Two Grand Daughters Ashley Cheek (Matt) of Independence, & Alex Cliff, Grandson Baylee Cliff and Two Great Grandchildren Haley and Colton Cheek and Brother Sam Cliff, Bromley, Ky. Jim will be missed by all. His zest for life was infectious & there was only one like him. His Favorite saying was "I'm made of steel and I'll be forever, but the rust on the steel finally caught up." Celebration of his life will be Sunday April 15 at Middendorf Funeral Home, Ft Wright from 2 - 4PM. Service to follow at 4 PM.
