Mary L. Heinen

Mary L. (nee Kampschmidt) Heinen, age 96 of Valparaiso, IN since 2008 and formerly of Lima, OH passed away Monday, December 12, 2011 at the VNA Horton Hospice Center, Valparaiso. She was born on May 9, 1915 in Covington, KY and was a graduate of Notre Dame Academy in Covington. Mary was first and foremost devoted to her family, but she also enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading, and playing bridge. She was a member of St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Student Center, Valparaiso, IN and a previously a member for 47 years at St. Charles Catholic Church in Lima, OH. On October 15, 1940 in Covington, KY, Mary married Jerome J. "Jerry" Heinen who preceded her in death in 1988. She is survived by 3 children, Stephen (Jean) Heinen of Cincinnati, OH, Tina (Richard) Bowers of Valparaiso, IN, and Margaret Brady of Mt. Pleasant, MI; 8 grandchildren, Christopher (Marisa), Brian, and Blake (Jamie) Heinen, Laura (Douglas) Wassilak, Mark (Elyn) and Matthew Bowers, and Lisa and James Brady; and 9 great grandchildren, Elias and Dylan Heinen, Tyler and Addison Heinen, Alex and Benjamin Wassilak, Harper and Hudson Bowers, and Riley Jensen. She was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Jane; 3 sisters; and 2 brothers. Funeral Mass will be held Friday, December 16th at 10 AM at St. Henry Catholic Church 3813 Dixie Hwy, Erlanger, KY with burial to follow at St. Mary Cemetery, Ft. Mitchell, KY. Visitation will be a half hour before the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to VNA Hospice Center or the Pines Village Retirement Community.
