Carl A. Papas

Carl A. Papas, 78, passed away peacefully with family by his side on Monday, February 24, 2025, in Edgewood, Kentucky. Carl, the first of 5 children, was born on November 5, 1946, in Covington, KY to the late Alex and Ann Papas.

Carl attended St. Agnes before attending Dixie Heights High School where he enjoyed being on the school’s football team. After a year at EKU, he went on to help his father at the candy factory for many years; learning everything there was to know from making candy to fixing machines. Carl was president of Papas Candies after his father retired in 1996 until 2018. He spent every day at work with his son, brother, sister, and nephews until passing the reins to a fourth generation. Carl was an avid golfer but there was not a sport that he wouldn’t excel in. He also loved to play the accordion and organ, dance, and sing karaoke to the tune of “Old Time Rock & Roll.”

Carl is preceded in death by his brother Mark and parents, Alex and Ann Zappa Papas.

Carl is survived by his children- Lisa (Chuck) Kiefer, Carl (Amy) Papas II, Andrew Papas, Dana Papas; sisters- Pam (Dan) Stenger, Connie Papas; brother- Chris (Kathy) Papas; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Middendorf Funeral Home in Ft. Wright. Service will follow at 7:00 pm.
