Edward Wolfgang Bessler, 88, of Crestview Hills died on Oct 4, 2022 at Emerald Trace in Elsmere. Having grown up in humble circumstances, he and his five siblings all had a strong belief in redemption and second chances. Ed was so very generous and tended to see the best in people. He was a loving father and husband, and he instilled good morals and a strong work ethic in his five children. After attending Covington Catholic and some college at the University of Dayton, Ed met Maureen Dailey and she stole his heart. Their first date was to a University of Kentucky basketball game, and they married on September 5, 1959. Ed then served two years in the US Army in Greenland. He had a keen sense for business opportunities; he owned Bessler's Economy Market and The Garten Haus Restaurant, and partnered in a wide array of ventures including The Family Motor Inn, Crestview Lakes Mobile Home Park, International Village Apartments, Americoal Mining Operations, Tri-County Concrete Plant, Tavern Inn the Wood and New Horizons Meat Distributors. He was also a member of the Northern Kentucky Homebuilders Association. After Ed retired, he negotiated use of the office at Crestview Lakes so he could keep active in the business. He loved working on his inventions, and his idea for the electric car was well ahead of its time. He especially enjoyed trips to Florida where he spent time with Maureen and played cards with friends. Time with his eight grandchildren was also precious. Ed was a devout Catholic, belonging to St Pius X church, and was prepared to meet Our Lord. If you asked how he was doing, Ed's inevitable reply was, "Everything's lovely!" He was preceded in death by his siblings Dorothy Bessler, Margaret Brauch, Eugene Bessler and Joseph Bessler. Ed is survived by his wife of 63 years Maureen, his sister Mary Gilligan, his children Tim (Diana) Bessler, Brian (Kim) Bessler, Randy (Toni) Bessler, Eddie Bessler and Jen (Jessica Hirst) Bessler, and his grandchildren Danielle, Natalie, Brent, Scott (Hannah), Dustin, Dillon, Max Rutledge and Dusty Rutledge.Visitation will be on Sunday, October 9th, 2022 from 2-4PM at Middendorf Funeral Home in Ft Wright, KY.
