Edward W. Whitehead of Ft. Mitchell, Ky. passed away peacefully on December 23, 2024,at his home. Ed was born in Newport, Ky. on April 29 th , 1929. He was 95 years of age. Ed was an active member of Blessed Sacrament Church for 68 years. He was one of nine children.Everything the family did was wrapped around Church and School.Ed worked in the Savings and Loan Business until Uncle Sam called him to serve his country.Ed proudly served his country in Korea in 1950 and 1951. He was in the chemical division andheld the rank of Army Staff Sergeant. After returning from the service he returned to the Savings & Loan Business for 44 years.Ed was very active in the community and was past president of Kentucky League of Savings Association, Riverside-Good Counsel School, American Association for Individual Investors,Catholic Social Service of Covington, Newport Neighborhood Housing Task Force and Institute of Financial Education, Chapter #84.He was affiliated with the Special Olympics, Past Lt. Governor of the Campbell County Kiwanis,Newport Salvation Army Advisory Board, Northern Kentucky University Advisory Board to Business, Fort Mitchell City Councilman, Housing Opportunities of Northern Kentucky, St.Vincent DePaul Society, Anawin -Advisor- Inner City Housing Organization, Sons of Dixie Barbershop Quartet and River Valley Wood Carvers.Ed’s hobbies were Woodcarving, Woodworking, Gardening and Golf.Ed leaves behind his wife of 68 years Carol Ann Kuchle Whitehead, daughter Mary Carol (Scott)Flynn, son Chris (Maria) Whitehead and five grandchildren, Katie (Harrison) Leavens, Patrick(Alisha) Flynn. Dr. Alex (Karen) Whitehead, Daniel Whitehead, Abbey (Mitchell) Klein.Ed was preceded in death by his parents Alexander and Marie Sauter Whitehead, brothers James, Francis, Ralph, sisters Sister Mary Isabella, Rosemary Lotz, Virginia Stenken, Ruth Baumann and Bernice Hehman.Visitation will be held Middendorf Funeral Home 3312 Madison Pike Friday,December 27 th from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M..Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Blessed Sacrament Church Fort Mitchell Saturday, December 28, 2024 10.00 AM.Reception will follow in the undercroft immediately following Mass.Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery with military honors.
