Kathryn M. Fitzgerald

Kathryn (Kay) M. Fitzgerald, 90, of Covington, Kentucky, passed away on April 3, 2025. Born on October

7, 1934 in Covington, Kentucky to the late Harry and Irma (Wagner) Gausepohl, Kay graduated from

Notre Dame High School in 1953.

As a young woman, Kay met her husband Tom after joining the Catholic Theater Guild where she

performed in and assisted with the community productions of numerous plays, including Oklahoma,

fiddler on the Roof and Hello Dolly.

A devout catholic, Kay was heavily involved with St. Benedict’s parish, including helping to organize its

annual festival, singing in the choir, and making costumes for its own theater productions. With her

three children enrolled at St. Benedict School, Kay volunteered as president of the PTO and led the 4-H

club before working as a part-time receptionist for the school.

Kay eventually worked and retired as a data processor for the IRS. In retirement, she became an active

member of the Dunham Choraliers, performing at many events throughout the area and traveled the

world with her loving husband.

She was married to John Thomas Fitzgerald (deceased 2013) and is survived by her children, Kenneth

Fitzgerald (Alice), Chris Fitzgerald (Beth) and Myra Haggard (Jason) as well as seven grandchildren.

Visitation will be Sunday, April 13 th , from 1 pm – 4 pm at Middendorf Funeral Home 3312 Madison Pike,

Fort Wright, KY. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, April 14 th , at 10 am at St. Benedict’s Church

338 East 17 th Street, Covington KY with burial following at St. Mary Cemetery in Fort Mitchell, KY.
