Mary Marlene Cahill

May 31, 1963 – December 20, 2024

Marlene Cahill, 61, of Amelia, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on December 20, 2024.

Marlene was a loving daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, whose warm heart and joyful

spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Born on May 31, 1963, Marlene was the daughter of Bon and Marilyn Cahill. She is

survived by her parents and her devoted sister, Sally Durrett, and her brother-in-law,

Steve Durrett. Marlene was a cherished aunt to her nieces and nephews—Deanna

(Jared), Kyle, and Cory (Kaitlin)—who lovingly referred to her as their “Nene.” She was

also a proud great-aunt to Jude, Grant, and Chloe, who were spoiled rotten at every

birthday and holiday by their sweet Nene, and who will remember her every time they

see Charlie Brown or Snoopy.

Marlene was a passionate sports fan, with a special love for the Cincinnati Bengals.

She enjoyed spending time at casinos or at concerts – most recently, the John Michael

Montgomery concerts – where she always made the most of a night out with friends and

family. Her infectious voice and laughter and positive energy made every gathering

brighter (even if she arrived late), and she will be fondly remembered for her love of life

and the many joyful memories she created.

Marlene was preceded in death by her grandparents, Lucille Ames and John and

Evangeline Kruetzkamp, and her beloved Uncle Jack Kruetzkamp. She is also reunited

in heaven with her sweet dog, Theo, who was her constant companion.

The family takes comfort in knowing that Marlene’s spirit will continue to live on in the

hearts of all who loved her. She was a light in the lives of so many and will be

remembered with great love and affection.
