Judie passed away peacefully & surrounded by her family on January 2, 2024 at the age of 85 after a long journey with Alzheimer’s Disease.

She was born in Louisville, Kentucky on January 3, 1938 to Georges and Betty (Shelton) LaChance. She attended St. Frances Assisi and Presentation Academy before graduating with a Bachelor in Nursing from Spalding College. She met her husband, Charlie, in grade school. They married in 1961 and throughout their  62 years of marriage, they were the best example of true love.

Judie was very dedicated to her faith, and had a special devotion to Mary, the Blessed Mother.  She was a loyal friend to many and extremely involved in her community, specifically through Habitat for Humanity and The Point Arc of NKY. She was a caring nurse, excellent quilter and a master of many other types of needlework. She loved music, was an avid reader and supporter of the performing arts. She was known as an impeccable entertainer and cook. She set the prettiest table in NKY and was the one everyone wanted to be on their Trivial Pursuit team.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, George. In addition to her husband, Charles O. Stephens M.D., she is survived by her children, Michelle O’Malley (John), Dana Wall (Scott), Scott Stephens, David Stephens (Jeni), Jill Sutkus (Mike), and Joy Suwinski (Tony), 17 grandchildren and one great grandson on the way.

Judie’s sweet legacies are woven into the fabric of our homes, families and our futures. Her boundless love, talents, incredible thoughfulness and joyful ways made everyone's life so much better.
