Michael Raymond Duvall, 68, of Florence, Kentucky, passed away on January 13th, 2025.>>>>> Michael was born on February 21st, 1956 to Raymond Paul Duvall and Marilyn Jean O’Neil in Charleroi, Pennsylvania. Michael graduated from Charleroi Area High School in 1974. Like his father, Raymond Duvall, Michael worked in the infamous steel mills of Pennsylvania throughout the 70’s, and was a proud member of the Steelworkers’ Union. Michael moved on to become a certified electrician and began a years-long career doing vending repair work and machining/manufacturing. Michael’s fascination with computers led him to eventually become a self-taught computer technician, and eventually, a network technician for the company he would work for until retirement. During the latter half of his career in the IT industry, he managed to acquire a variety of universally recognized certificates in the field of computer science.
Michael enjoyed a variety of passions and hobbies throughout his lifetime. He was a talented musician who played the guitar, bass guitar, drums, and piano. He was an avid fan of blues and rock music, with a special affinity for the Beatles (particularly George Harrison), the Moody Blues, Jimi Hendrix, Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton, Tom Petty and Led Zeppelin. He had a love for plants and a talent for taking such good care of them that they would thrive with what seemed like minimal effort. Michael always held a fascination with elements of fantasy (particularly the works of Tolkien and the Arthurian Legends), spiritualism, new age beliefs and medicine, and the paranormal. He adored Halloween and loved autumn festivities and always looked forward to putting up decorations of ghosts, witches, cats, pumpkins, and skeletons.
Michael donated to many charities throughout his lifetime; many of them without the knowledge of his loved ones, until the discovery of thank you letters from the charities he gave to. He truly honored the Bible quote from Matthew 6:3-4 "But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you". All who knew Michael would say that he had his father, Raymond’s, kind heart. He valued love, the idea of peace, and always tried to honor the Golden Rule until his last breath.
Michael was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Duvall, his mother, Marilyn Duvall, and his eldest son, Michael Paul Duvall. He is survived by his brothers Gary Duvall and Sean Duvall, his children, Christian Duvall, Alexander Duvall, and Samantha Sothard. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Trinity Duvall, Emmett Duvall, Oliver Duvall, Ethan Sothard, Kit Duvall, Dax Sothard, Salem Duvall, and Kaylin Sothard.
