Patricia M. Schwierjohann

August 15, 1951 — October 10, 2024

Patricia Mary Schwierjohann, (nee Flanagan), 73, of Bellevue, Kentucky passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 10th, 2024, with care from Hospice of Cincinnati, Ohio.

Patricia was born on August 15,1951 in Cincinnati, Ohio to David Stuart Flanagan and Shirley Mae Flanagan (nee Chaney). Patty, as she was known by her loved ones, felt honored to be born on the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary and took great pride in her Irish heritage.

Patty is preceded in death by her parents, sister Nancy Flanagan, brother-in-law Joseph Sberna, and dear friend Rick Somboretz.

Patty proudly raised two adoring daughters, Elizabeth Bobonick of Cincinnati, Ohio and Lydia Barrett (Aaron) of Erlanger, Kentucky. An incredibly devoted grandmother, she cherished her grandchildren Eden Bobonick, Alder Bobonick, Brooks Bobonick, Elle Barrett and Morgan Barrett.

She also lovingly leaves behind her dedicated sisters, Kathy Sberna and Ruth Duvall, brother Michael Flanagan, many nieces and nephews, as well as her chosen family, Susan and Gerald Parker.

Patty graduated from St. Agnes Elementary School in 1965 and from Notre Dame Academy in 1969. She obtained her bachelor’s degree in elementary education and a master’s degree in special education from Northern Kentucky University. She was a lover of knowledge who led a purposeful life of service dedicated to her students. Patty joyfully taught for nearly thirty years; the majority of which took place at Cincinnati Public Schools, specifically at the School for the Creative and Performing Arts. She had the unique ability to make all she encountered feel accepted and adored.

After retiring from Cincinnati Public Schools, she taught courses at Gateway Community and Technical College. Patty’s love for helping and teaching continued as she volunteered at Campbell County Libraries teaching adults how to read.

While she loved cool, winter weather and curling up with a good book, Patty enjoyed spending her summer days at Coney Island’s Sunlite Pool, as well as attending concerts at Riverbend. She also graced the local concerts of her close friends’ musical groups with her smile and enthusiasm for over 50 years. Her musical interests were diverse, and included The Beatles, James Taylor, Zac Brown Band and Tchaikovsky.

Patty could tell a story like no other and when she finally got to the end, her audience would be laughing hysterically. Her smile, facial expressions, and laugh were unmatched.
