Reverend James Edward Quill, 95, died on 2-4-2025 at St. Elizabeth Hospice, Edgewood, Ky. He was born on December 29, 1929, to James Edward Quill and Mary Lyons Quill (both deceased). He attended Annunciation School in Cincinnati, Oh and Blessed Sacrament in Ft. Mitchell, Ky, Covington Latin School, St. Gregory Seminary, Norwood, Oh, and St. Paul Seminary in St. Paul, Mn and completed post graduate studies at the St. Patrick College in Maynooth, Ireland, receiving his Doctorate of Theology.
He was ordained on 5-30-53. Upon his return, he began as an assistant pastor at Holy Cross Church, Latonia, Ky, and had many diocesan assignments including St. Paul Church, Florence, Ky, Blessed Sacrament, Ft. Michell, Ky, St. Joseph, Crescent Springs, Ky, until his final positions as priest-in-residence at St. Agnes, Ft. Wright, Ky and Chaplain at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Edgewood, Ky.
His past four years he resided at St. Charles Community, Covington, Ky, and Caramel Manor, Ft. Thomas, Ky.
He was a true “Irishman” loving all things Irish, an avid fisherman and aficionado of horse racing-enjoying all with friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Sally Quill. He is survived by his brother, Kevin E. Quill (Mary), 3 nieces, Lauren Quill Love (Beryl), Megan Quill Bellamy(James), Heather Byer, and grandnieces, Bentley, Brinkley and Banks Bellamy.
Middendorf Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements, 3312 Madison Pike, Ft. Wright,Ky 41071. Visitation Thursday, February 13 th , 10:00-11:30 at St. Agnes Church, 1680Dixie Hwy, Ft. Wright, Ky 41011 followed by Funeral Mass commencing at 11:30.
