Ronald Glenn Dye passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family Thursday, March 7th, 2024 at the age of 85. Ronald more commonly known as Glenn was born on July 28th 1938 to parents Ella and Chester. Glenn graduated from Nancy High School in Pulaski County class of 1957 before joining the United States military in 1958. Upon leaving the army he married the love of his life Marilyn Phelps-Dye October 1st 1966 in Tennessee and together had only child Rhonda Loya-Johanneman July 17th 1967 in Somerset Kentucky. Glenn was an avid basketball lover never missing a UK game, dog and animal lover, member of the Scottish Rights, and an army veteran. Glenn could always be found outdoors in warm weather tending to his garden and tinkering around his farm in Somerset Kentucky. He was his happiest on Hickory Nut Ridge where you could often find him throwing wood and garbage into large fire pits. His generosity toward his family was unparalleled and he will be leaving behind a beautiful legacy.
Glenn is survived by daughter Rhonda Loya-Johanneman, son-in-law Matthew Johanneman, sibling M.C. Dye, grandchildren Taylor Glenn Loya-Whiteley, Brittany Loya, Lucy Johanneman and William Whiteley, great grandchildren William and Isabella Whiteley.
Glenn was predeceased by his wife Marilyn Dye, parents Ella and Chester Dye, brothers Albert, Arthur, Red, and T.J. Dye, sister Evelyn (Dye) Carter.
Visitation will be Tuesday, March 12th 2024 from 5pm-7pm at Middendorf Funeral Home in Fort Wright, Kentucky with reception to follow at 2057 Patriot Way Independence, Kentucky. Burial will be held Wednesday, March 13th at 10am at Independence Cemetery.
